AERIAL VIEW

The first portfolio I created was culled from Kodak slides taken from over thirty years of my research flights. In revisiting the slides I began to notice new relationships between aerial photographs from disparate times and landscapes. The shadows of the airplanes became a leitmotif. In 2006 I collaborated with the poet Toby Olson to produce a book, The Shadow Under the Shadow, featuring 14 of his sonnets written to correspond to specific images from this portfolio.
