UPCOMING EXHIBITION:

POLITICS OF SNOW
Locks Gallery
600 Washington Sq. South Phila PA 19106
February 2 - March 13, 2010

Gericault, Courbet, and Bierstadt used the genre of landscape to address their political realities. I take courage from this precedent to articulate the pressing issues of our melting environment. With this project, I continue the tradition of painting into the twenty-first century. My lifelong fascination with geology, along with my practice of recording nature’s constant state of flux have now converged in an overarching sense of urgency as I despair over our future. POLITICS OF SNOW is my way to contribute to the effort to address issues of climate change." - Diane Burko

"Diane’s work connects us to the enormity of what is happening in the natural world and the amazing speed with which these changes are taking place. Even as Diane documents how things are changing, she also reminds us of the stunning beauty of nature – and, in turn, the urgency of doing everything in our power to protect it. " - Eileen Claussen President, Pew Center on Global Climate Change
